In a Class of Their Own

With 5 weeks of the regular season now in the books, only one team has made it through the SSC Dodgeball gauntlet unscathed. The Dodgebrawlers took down the previously unbeaten Balls Deep squad 4-0 last Wednesday night, and now sit at a perfect 10-0 with just two games remaining in the regular season. Balls Deep was shorthanded in this contest, but looked nothing like the team that knocked off Debbie earlier this season and #1 in the dodgeball power rankings for three straight weeks. The Dodgebrawlers have gone an incredible 40-1 through 10 games this season (they dropped a single game to Debbie), and are hoping to match the feat that Debbie Does Dodgeball completed in the 2009 Fall League by going 16-0 and bringing home the SSC Championship. No team has a tougher schedule for the final week of the regular season, as the Dodgebrawlers will have to knock off two top five teams this week to complete their undefeated campaign. Both DTF and Black Sheep are hungry to get back on the court after some tough losses last week, and nothing would give these teams more confidence heading into the postseason than keeping the Dodgebrawlers from their elusive perfect season.

While the top 6 teams spend the final week battling for postseason seeding, there are still 4 more playoff berths up for grabs this Wednesday. Hoo Hoo Shield can clinch their third straight playoff berth with a win in either of their games this week against Team Crazy and Slingin Balls. Both Weapons of Mass Seduction and Slingin Balls currently control their own playoff destiny, as each team can stamp their ticket into the postseason by winning their final two games. The most exciting playoff race will be for the 10th and final spot, which is now a 4 way tie between Team Crazy, Prestige Worldwide, Got Worms?, and Face Down, Glass Up. Team Crazy is the hottest of these 4 teams, winning 3 of their last 4, but they also easily have the most daunting final week as they play Hoo Hoo Shield and defending champion Debbie Does Dodgeball.

Please note that there will be no games next Wednesday, February 17th as Factory of Champions will not be open. Playoffs will take place the following Wednesday, February 24th.
