Ill Tempered Sea Bass

Champions!

The San Antonio SSC Fall 2008 Football season has come to a close and 4 teams have been crowned CHAMPION!

Touchdown My Pants (Tuesday - Super Social) was the only #1 seed of the four divisions to make it through the playoffs unscathed. Their only loss in the regular season came at the hands of McLovins who was their opponent in the first round. Touchdown My Pants got redemption in a big way and then snuck by the Bad A's to claim their first-ever SSC Championship.

The Thundercats (Monday - Super Social), who have consistently made it to the SSC Football Championship games in past seasons, had a rocky regular season but put it together when it mattered as they cruised to two straight playoff victories for their first-ever crown!

But the story of the playoffs was in the Social division as both #4 seeds (Ill Tempered Sea Bass - Monday, Ninjas - Tuesday) rocked the football world and took home the brass (or left it with SSC staff as the case may be).

The Ninjas got a little sweet revenge as they knocked Blueprint 2 out of the playoffs in the first round (Blueprint 2 was part of the team that the Ninjas lost to in the final seconds of last season's Championship). And though they faced a resurgent --- in the Championship, the Ninjas proved they had superior firepower and pulled away for a 43-20 victory.

And who can forget the Ill Tempered Sea Bass? Losers of their first three games on the season, the Sea Bass finished the season with a tie and two straight wins and barely sneaked into the playoffs. Nobody wants to play a team that is peaking at the right time and this was certainly the case in the Monday Social playoffs as the Sea Bass outscored their opponents 98-48 in their two playoff games. I guess the old saying is true..."It's not how you start but how you finish!"

Congratulations to all the Champions and thanks to all the teams that made the Fall 2008 Football season a great success. Keep an eye out in the new year for the Spring season of Football which should begin in February or March.

Just a reminder that Co-ed Indoor Volleyball registration closes this Friday (October 24th) and Winter Bowling and Winter Dodgeball are also open!
