Our first game highlight was between Old Skool and Buckets. Both teams came out firing on all cylinders, and seemed as if they could not miss from beyond the arc. It seemed that when one team would drop a three, the other team came right back and answered with their own. Both teams kept going back and forth, fighting for rebounds, but ultimately, with the help of their female outside shooting, Buckets came out on top 21-16.
Our second game came between our defending champs, Triple Threat, and one of our free agent teams, Sham-Yao. While at first glance one would have expected the defending champs to come away easily, Sham-Yao was not to be underestimated. Sham’s female took advantage early, hitting both long balls and layups. With the attention on her, Sham-Yao’s males also started hitting the long ball. Triple Threat, not to be outdone however, fought hard for rebounds and loose balls, and started answering back with their own threes. With the score tied, and time dwindling, Triple Threat drove it in and hit a contested layup, right before time expired in a very exciting early season match. Triple Threat got the W, 18-17.
