A New Season Begins

We’re back for another season of basketball at Factory of Champions! Week 1 gave us a glimpse of our 14 teams, some brand new to the league and others seasoned veterans, and proved that we will have another highly competitive season to look forward to.

Several new teams have joined the action and one of them– Junkies– made a huge statement on Wednesday, coming out and winning their first two games against solid opponents. Their strong presence in the paint as well as their female shooters who have great range behind the arc, this team is going to be a tough one to beat. Another new team the came out strong was Wet Dream Team. Their height, speed, and defensive presence make them quite the force to be reckoned with and they even knocked off last season’s 2nd place team, Don’t Curry Be Happy.

Dixon Cider is back this season after taking a break and their rustiness definitely showed a bit. Cookies and Kareem who have improved greatly in their 3 seasons of SSC ball were able to give them a loss to start the season. Cold Cuts is also back again, one of our tried and true teams that has been playing for many seasons. After a disappointing last season, they hope to get in the groove of winning again and hopefully compete for another SSC championship.

We are already seeing games be much closer with not nearly as many blowout games as before and all teams appear to have both offensive and defensive weapons at their disposal. Unlike prior seasons where there have been many undefeated teams heading into week 2, we only have 4 which means that the level of competition is that much greater and that every week teams will have to be prepared to leave it all on the court.

Another great thing about this season is that we are able to end a bit earlier in the night so there’s more time to get to The Hangar for free pitchers of beer and discounts on great food. Several teams made it out last night and beginning next week we will be naming “Most Social Team of the Week” so don’t miss your chance to celebrate your win or drown your loss after your game. Once again, welcome to the new teams and welcome back to the old–Here’s to a great season!
