Sets on the Beach

After Mother Nature kept us away last week, She provided us with a beautiful Wednesday evening to kick off our new sand volleyball season! We saw a number of familiar faces mixed in with some new ones. New or old, everyone seemed to have a blast and the social atmosphere was awesome. This looks to be one of our best seasons yet!

Our Social Team of the Week is Sets on the Beach! They are a new team that played a closely contested match, where they fell just short, but we loved their social attitudes and the way their beer breaks were such a high priority in the game! They cracked jokes and mingled well and we look forward to seeing more of this new team this season! If you missed us this week, make sure to join us next week after the games at the Hangar for more drinks and a 9 pm Cards Against Humanity tournament!

Our Super Social match-up of the evening featured our Social Team of the Week, Sets on the Beach, and veteran returners, Just the Tip. Beach was shorthanded a player for a majority of the first set, but that didn’t damper their spirits as they trailed, but kept it close. The gears really began to roll once their player arrived, but they ran out of time in the first set and fell 25-21. The second set was back and forth as the teams were now on level playing ground. It was a nail-biter to the finish and ultimately came down to the cap rule as Just the Tip barely pulled out (pun) the win, 27-25.
On our Social side, newcomers to Wednesday night, You Got Served, took on the Wednesday night defending champions, Spiked Punch. Punch looking to continue its streak from last season came confident, but was quickly given a reality check as Got Served stole the first set 25-23. The first set wasn’t Spiked errors, but great execution by Got Served. Spiked is never one to concede easily and they weren’t about to fall again. Spiked would take set two 25-22. Set three was set up to be another nail-biter and indeed it was. It was a constant point-for-point battle that truly could have gone either way. Both teams executed very well and it simply came down to best ball placement. Tonight, You Got Served was victorious and pulled out the win, 16-14. This will definitely be a match-up to watch in the future!
