Slap a Pitch
Alas we have a champion. Through a season of weather changes and intense competition, one true champion stood alone waving the championship banner at Rusty Lyons. Congratulations to Slap a Pitch for their well deserved victory. Their march through the playoffs was filled with blowouts and nail biters but they fought through every challenge given and will celebrate at the Hanger and toast to their crown.
The final game presented Slap a Pitch against a very familiar face to the playoffs. Cleats & Cleavage fought off two very determined teams to find themselves back in the championship game again. With both teams ready to hit the diamond, the game got underway and after putting their lead-off hitter aboard, Cleats & Cleavage failed to do any damage in the top of the first. Slap a Pitch on the other hand, hit the ground running in the bottom of the first. They found early success on the base paths and mounted four runs before Cleats was able to get the third out. Things settled down after that as both teams’ defensive efforts stepped up making the routing plays and also some spectacular ones. Zero runs over the next two innings is where things stood until the top of the fourth inning when Cleats & Cleavage finally broke those goose eggs on the scoreboard with a solo run to cut into the deficit but that was all they were going to manage as Slap a Pitch quickly shut the door. And while Cleats & Cleavage was able to keep the bats of Slap a Pitch silent in the bottom half of the fourth, they were just unable to muster and further offense whatsoever. Slap a Pitch in the meantime tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and that would be more than enough to carry them to the promise land as they hoisted the championship banner and claimed the top prize.
Congratulations to all teams that made this season a special one. Cheers!
