Final Week! (Monday’s)

Stirista

Entering the final week of the regular season, the bubble teams knew they had their work cut out for them. With one game left, they took to the diamond with the mindset that if they didn’t win, their season would be done in disappointing fashion. Thus was the case in a pivotal game between two fierce competitors in Stirista and Bat Asses. For Stirista, a win meant they would solidify their playoff spot as the third seed, a loss meant they may be left on the outside looking in with many teams already having identical records. Meanwhile in the other dugout, Bat Asses were already on the outside looking in, but a win would put them on the bubble and would need some luck to lock in a spot in the big dance next week.
Stirista understood the situation and with a sense of urgency got things started on the right foot in the top of the first, exploding for six runs to help their cause and followed that up with a shutdown bottom half of the inning. Bat Asses could not generate any momentum whatsoever and that spelled big trouble for them and their rapidly fading playoff chances. While Bat Asses was able to limit the damage done in the top half of the second inning, they still allowed Stirista to scratch across another three runs and faced a huge deficit entering the bottom half of the second inning. In that bottom half a lack of sticks plagued them again as Stirista showing off their athleticism held Bat Asses to a giant goose egg on the scoreboard. The top of the third saw Stirista continue to make the timely hits and would add another two runs to their lead, probably starting to feel a little safe about the eventual result of this game. The bottom half saw the sticks finally come alive for Bat Asses. They put a pair of runs to cut into the lead, but with facing still a large deficit their cause was all but lost. A pair of runs courtesy of Stirista quickly erased the progress of Bat Asses and one more shutdown inning in the bottom of the fourth inning spelled good night to Bat Asses, ending their season on a low note with a loss and missing out on the playoffs. Stirista meanwhile, accomplished capturing the third seed in the playoffs which should earn them at least one home game.
With the field set for next week, we see some familiar faces in these playoffs and we see some new comers that will be a welcomed addition to the big dance. That being said, next week promises to be entertaining and we will see which team outlast all the others and will be crowned champs before we take our winter break. Cheers!
