Cleats and Cleavage

The weeks are chugging along as Rusty Lyons as teams are starting to separate themselves and the playoff picture starts to come into focus. The final three weeks will be most interesting as team battle it out on the diamond. In this Week Three, the first and final game of the night proved to be two very close games. Dirty Dozen played host to Balls & Dolls looking to stay perfect and scratched across a single run in the top of the first inning to get their afternoon started on a hot note. Yet this small lead didn’t last long because Dirty Dozen showed that they are a force to be reckoned with by throwing a three spot in the bottom half of the first to grab a lead. While things were quiet in the second inning the third is where both teams exploded for a combined ten runs that gave Dirty Dozen the upper hand at 9-5. Balls & Dolls tried to mount a comeback in the final inning but managed their only a single run and time ran out on their undefeated record bringing them and Dirty Dozen in a tie now for second place in the Bud Light Division.

In the Michelob Ultra Division, Griffins took the fields with upset on their mind as they played host to the perennial power, Stirista who was also looking to stay perfect atop the division. For the first couple of innings, things looked well for Stirista with a six run lead before Griffins could get across a single run in the bottom of the second. They continued to chip away with two more runs in the third making the score 6-3. Stirista came back with a pair in the top of the fourth inning and in the bottom half, Griffins staged a furious comeback and had Stirista on their heels but they came up just short ending the game in disappointing fashion with a one run loss, 8-7. Teams will continue to hit the sand hard as they are prepared for the home stretch on the summer softball season.
